1 After the close of pleadings in an action begun by writ there must be discovery by the parties to the action of the documents which are or have been in their possession , custody or power relating to matters in question in the action .

6 Any party requiring general discovery may give notice in writing to any other party requiring him to make discovery by list of the documents , relating to any question in the proceedings , which may be or have been in his possession or power .
